Project Details

My creative agency, Saje Creatives, teamed up with client Hive Solutions to redesign a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) used on oil rigs, focusing on improving speed, usability, and alignment with real field workflows. Working alongside a UX designer and researcher, I translated information architecture into high-fidelity prototypes and helped build a scalable UI system in Figma, creating over 30 reusable components across key areas like Rig Hub, Assets, Work Orders, and Inventory.

A key part of the process involved restructuring the system to reflect how technicians actually work rather than backend logic, shifting to a more intuitive hierarchy of Rig → System → Position → Asset, which made navigation more predictable and aligned with users’ mental models. To manage the complexity of a data-heavy interface, I emphasized clear visual hierarchy, consistent patterns, and prioritization of high-frequency actions, reducing cognitive load and enabling faster task completion.

I also contributed to a component-based design system with standardized patterns and layouts, allowing for quicker iteration and smoother developer handoff. Additionally, I designed and prototyped core workflows across major product areas, using interactive prototypes to validate flows and communicate functionality with stakeholders. The final redesign simplified complex workflows and significantly improved efficiency, enabling technicians and operators to complete tasks with greater clarity and less friction.
